Legendary Golden Warlord Castle Unearthed In Kyoto

KYOTO, JAPAN – JUN. 18: The earliest part of legendary "golden castle" built in southern Kyoto in late 16th century by powerful warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi was unearthed, a research company has announced. Gold-foiled roof tiles with the image of paulownia flowers -- emblem of the Toyotomi family - were also discovered from the site, the company said. The Toyotomi family briefly controlled Japan between late 16th and early 17th centuries but was perished by Tokugawa Ieyasu, another strong warlord who once was Toyotomi servant but later governed Japan for more than two hundred years. The piece of land will be reused for housing purposes and has been under excavation required by law to confirm historical records before redevelopment works start.
