Military vehicles take part in security deployment following drone attack on residence of Iraqi premier

BAGHDAD, IRAQ - NOVEMBER 7:Security measures around the Green Zone and other points in the Iraqi capital have been stepped up with the deployment of military vehicles on Sunday (Nov.7) in the wake of an assassination attempt against Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. Early on Sunday, the Iraqi army said al-Kadhimi survived a failed assassination attempt by an explosive-laden drone on his residence in capital Baghdad. Following the assassination attempt, al-Kadhimi called for "calm and restraint from all for the sake of Iraq." The attempt came amid protests by supporters of the Iran-backed Al-Fatah Coalition and Hashd al-Shaabi militia against the results of last month’s parliamentary elections.(Footage by Wisam Zeyad Mohammed /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
