Every year, an ancient procession has been repeated for over a century in the ancient southern Italian village of Sessa Aurunca, where men hooded in black, namely those affiliated with the Archconfraternity of the SS. Crucifixes leave from the church of San Giovanni a Villa carrying the religious statues on their shoulders very slowly throughout the night until the morning.
