Female Gazan journalist shares grim realities of perilous reporting in war zone

RAFAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - MAY 3: Journalists in the Gaza Strip persist in their efforts to reveal Israel's war crimes despite the risk of death or serious injury. as the Israeli blockade has tightly gripped the Gaza Strip for seven months, affecting people from different walks of life.Aside from Palestinian civilians, journalists working towards the exposal of atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli forces oftentimes encounter grave threats from the Israeli attacks.The journalists in the enclave navigate perilous risks, including the threat of death, communication breakdowns, and shortages of essential equipment and sustenance."I left my home on October 7th, and until now, I have not returned to it. I returned with scenes of darkness and extermination committed by the Israeli occupation...In case they (women) need to go to the bathrooms, unfortunately, they have to stand in lines, never-ending queues, just to use or attend to their personal needs," explained Ahlam Moussa Azifoor, a female Journalist in the Gaza Strip.The display of bravery and steadfastness from the journalists in the area usually goes unnoticed, although they are the agents behind the lenses enabling the connection between the war-torn Gaza Strip and the World. It also reflects on the relevant international authorities.Journalists stress the bitter fact that no decision whatsoever from the international authorities proves efficient in ensuring the security of journalists from the threat of Israeli assaults."Unfortunately, the shield is targeted while you are wearing this shield. At the same time, today, people, even in the field, when they see the press shield, they become afraid. It means that the Israeli occupation is directly targeting journalists.
