Speaker Johnson says Schumer voted for funding bill in March so opposition to reopening government is purely political

House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana says at a news conference the morning of the seventh day of a government shutdown that Chuck Schumer stated in March he believed it was his job to make the best choice for the country to minimize harms of American people and therefore would vote to keep government open, notes Schumer was discussing the exact same bill on the floor today and told Jake Tapper on CNN he was proud he did the right thing, states today is the exact same scenario with exact same vote and exact same spending levels, and characterizes Schumer's position as purely about politics with no other reason to do anything different.
