Dazu Stone Carving In Chongqing

The Dazu Stone carving, located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northwest of Chongqing in Dazu County, is one of China's most important Buddhist Art sites, with more than 100,000 pieces left over from the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties. The well-preserved carvings are representative of ancient Chinese art tradition, keeping a remarkable record of Buddhism's growth. The relic was listed in the World Heritage sites in 1999.
