UPSC Topper Ira Singhal Felicitated By Ministry Of Social Justice And Empowerment

NEW DELHI, INDIA - JULY 8: UPSC topper Ira Singhal at her felicitation by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Vigyan Bhavan Annexe on July 8, 2015 in New Delhi, India. She cleared the UPSC civil services exam in 2010 and was allotted IRS but her disability became an obstacle in her joining. Singhal, 31, has been affected by scoliosis or curvature of the spine from birth and is physically challenged and has 62 per cent locomotor disability. The matter reached CAT which gave ruling in her favor last year. Out of 4.5 lakh candidates only 1,236 candidates cleared the civil services exam and were recommended for appointment to the IAS, IFS, IPS and other central services.
