Khmelnytskyi NPP Marks 20th Anniversary Of Power Unit No. 2 Putting Into Operation

NETISHYN, UKRAINE - AUGUST 7: Construction workers carry out preparatory work on the Khmelnytskyi NPP's power units No. 3 and No. 4, which are 75% and 28% ready, respectively on August 7, 2024 in Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine. On August 7, 2004, 20 years ago, the Ukrainian energy system was strengthened by power unit No. 2 at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. Dedicated to the anniversary, nuclear workers awarded the best specialists for their achievements and handed over a new batch of aid (UAVS, cars, a boat, EW devices, starlinks, charging stations) to Ukrainian military. Now the the Khmelnytskyi NPP is awaiting the passing of a law that will allow the construction of new power units. Amid constant Russian shelling of critical infrastructure facilities, Ukraine needs more power capacities, and the main focus is on nuclear power, as it generates more than 50% of the country's electricity.
