Hundreds Of Prehistoric Human Remains Found In Archaeological Excavations In Santomera

MURCIA, REGION OF MURCIA, SPAIN - APRIL 22: Archaeologists dig up prehistoric human remains discovered in a cave in the Sierra de Orihuela, on 22 April, 2022 in Santomera, Murcia, Region of Murcia, Spain. Archaeologists from the Historical Heritage Association of Santomera have discovered hundreds of human bones belonging to the prehistoric inhabitants of this Murcian municipality in a collective burial site located in the sepulchral cave of Las Muelas and Sima Guillamon, located in the Sierra de Malnombre. The bone remains could be associated with a ritual process and respond to a "social phenomenon" of the first settlers belonging to the late Neolithic or Chalcolithic, with at least 5,000 years old.
