Tensions Continue In Kashmir As Death Toll Rises To 69

SRINAGAR, KASHMIR, INDIA - AUGUST 23: Indian border security forces (BSF) stand guard in the city center, during a curfew, following weeks of violence that has left over 69 people dead and thousands injured on August 23, 2016 in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. Indian authorities have continued to sealed all the streets and roads in Kashmir, with the strict curfew and restrictions entering the 46th consecutive day. The shutdown aims to thwart anti Indian and pro Kashmir freedom protest marches against the killing of innocents in the valley. Currently a total of 69 people have died and over 6000 have been Injured during the fierce protests over the killing of a young rebel commander Burhan Wani. The Indian government has sent an additional 2000 more BSF paramilitary forces to Kashmir from Delhi, adding to the more than half million troops already in Kashmir.
