Rather than trying to fit riders on mass produced models, Vitess builds bikes from the frame up to tailor each individual rider and budget. The company, which opened its showroom in November, insists customers test ride their bikes, often for several days, while testing different wheels and components. Founder Julien Papon was in charge of engineering operations for a large automotive parts supplier before starting up Vitess and has translated many aspects of the auto industry into his business strategy. His supplier selection and just-in-time inventory are examples of this and why the company can custom-fit each bike.
