Sir Frank Crisp, English lawyer, botanist and eccentric, 1905.

UNITED KINGDOM - JUNE 04: Photographic portrait of Sir Frank Crisp (1843-1919), the first owner of the home of the late Beatle George Harrison, Friar Park. Crisp designed Friar Park as a mixture of French Renaissance and Gothic architectural styles with an extensive garden featuring three lakes. The garden also contained a maze of caves, connected by an underground river, and housing items such as skeletons, mirrors and garden gnomes. Crisp was the inspiration for the song The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp on Harrisons 1970 solo album All Things Must Pass, the front cover of which depicts Harrison in the garden of Friar Park alongside some of Crisps gnomes. Crisp also authored books on medieval gardens. (Photo by SSPL/Getty Images)
