Libya's most famous freedom fighter, Omar Al-Mukhtar, is set against the Libyan flag on a wall in Tajoura. Under Gaddafi's rule, simple acts of painting anti-regime images or slogans, were dangerous. As a result, some of the artists responsible have lost their lives. Since the end of the War, graffiti has now become a significant part of Libya's visual culture, as the Libyans celebrate their freedom.
