The arrival of fall is a good time to take a look at your cosmetics and decide what you should save, what you should toss, and what you should buy to kick off the new season. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Here to help you update your beauty routine when transitioning from summer to fall is Mally Roncal. She’s the creator and president of Mally Beauty. HODA KOTB: Oh, you’re president? MALLY RONCAL (Celebrity Makeup Artist): Yes, I am a president. HODA KOTB: I’m sorry, Miss Presidente. I had no idea. MALLY RONCAL: Thank you, yes. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Very important. HODA KOTB: So often in your makeup bag, you have summer stuff that you think, you know what, this isn’t right for the fall, I’m going to toss it. But you say you should hang on some of the stuff? MALLY RONCAL: Yes. Some of the things you should always keep, especially when fall comes around. Number one, beautiful like eyeliners in gorgeous colors. HODA KOTB: Mm-Hm. MALLY RONCAL: Purple. Do you like purple? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: No, not as an eyeliner. MALLY RONCAL: Okay. HODA KOTB: Sorry. Thanks for coming, Mally. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I have nothing against the color, personally. I just don’t like it around an eye. MALLY RONCAL: Okay. Got you, well-- HODA KOTB: Keep it. MALLY RONCAL: Yeah. Keep it in anyway. There you go, the great colors around the eyes, greens, purples, blues. Mm-Hm. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: No. HODA KOTB: Again, no. MALLY RONCAL: Okay. Anyway, all right. I love it. Eyebrows-- okay, great. Eyebrows are always big, but especially in the fall. This season, brows are going to be big. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: You got great eyebrows. HODA KOTB: Yeah, you do. MALLY RONCAL: Well, thanks. Because I draw them on. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, yeah. I’ve defrosted my face, yeah, it’s sad. MALLY RONCAL: There you go. It’s a great brush. HODA KOTB: Is that liquid? MALLY RONCAL: It is, it’s a liquid marker. So you can really draw it in. It lasts a long time. And-- and you can get really precise look. So that’s great. HODA KOTB: That’s funny but the bronzer coming up next. MALLY RONCAL: Yes. HODA KOTB: I thought that was definitely going to be a thing to toss out. MALLY RONCAL: Well, you know what happens you have that beautiful healthy glow in the summertime, naturally, just from being outside. As we don’t want it to turn into a pasty mess once winter comes-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Hodie doesn’t. HODA KOTB: I like the sun. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: She likes the sun. HODA KOTB: Mm-Hm. MALLY RONCAL: She glows away. So there you go. So keep that bronzer. Keep that healthy glow all year long so people just, you know, that way can-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: But there is a-- there is a shelf life on these things too. MALLY RONCAL: Oh yeah. Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: You should never keep anything what more than six months? MALLY RONCAL: Yeah. Oh, yeah for sure. Well, everything has a different sort of shelf life so, you know, depending-- look it up online and see. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I’ve seen your stuff. HODA KOTB: Yeah. I have stuff in a Ziploc that’s been there more than a year. MALLY RONCAL: Well-- HODA KOTB: And I’m with five years. MALLY RONCAL: We should probably-- we should talk. Okay. So there’s a giant wastepaper basket here, which means these are the things we toss-- HODA KOTB: Okay. MALLY RONCAL: --when fall comes around. So, number one, super sparkly eye shadows, I-- I don’t even imagine that you would wear any of these. HODA KOTB: No. Not in the summer. MALLY RONCAL: So let’s toss them anyway. These are the ones that you don’t want anymore because fall is coming, it’s more elegant, soft and smooth. Really soft lips, they’re always gorgeous, but in the summertime they’re really appropriate. In the winter, you can go a little darker with your lip. And then also like really again-- sort of like bright white eye shadows-- HODA KOTB: Okay. MALLY RONCAL: --you want to keep everything very soft and pretty. Everything that’s going to kind of pop out, you want to take those, throw them in the garbage. HODA KOTB: Okay. So what should we buy? MALLY RONCAL: Okay. Buy, all right. So, it’s all about skin in the fall. Like, you know, in the summer you’re kind of going for that dewy, healthy, you know, like I have this just for frolicking. Frolicking? Okay, good. Anyway, so you want to get that-- you frolic, I know you do. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Naked all the time. HODA KOTB: That’s what she does. MALLY RONCAL: I knew it. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: With Harry. MALLY RONCAL: Exactly-- so what you want is a beautiful sort of semi-matte foundation. Something that’s -- I’m sorry. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Mally Roncal is having a heck of a time. HODA KOTB: This seems to have your name on it. It looks like some home cooking is going on. MALLY RONCAL: Well, a little home cooking. So really this is a great sort of nourishing foundation that almost acts as a skin care as well, but has a beautiful matte finish. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Your makeup looks gorgeous. HODA KOTB: Yeah, it looks great. (Cross talking) MALLY RONCAL: Thank you. That might be what I am wearing. Anyway. Okay. A great old jar of Vaseline is always great. Believe it or not, it’s a great thing to keep hydrated in the fall. You can even use it on your eye lids to get a little glossy look. HODA KOTB: Really? Where else on your face would you put this? MALLY RONCAL: You can put it on your lips. HODA KOTB: Yeah. MALLY RONCAL: You can take a little bit tap it on to your cheekbones. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. MALLY RONCAL: Great soft, warm brown matte eyeliner. Do you like these? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. MALLY RONCAL: Yeah. We have a winner. Thank you. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Well, I like Vaseline, too. MALLY RONCAL: Yeah, there you go. HODA KOTB: Of course, you do. MALLY RONCAL: Smudgy eye liner-- oh girls. Okay. Smudgy eyeliner up for that morning after kind of a look. HODA KOTB: And lastly? MALLY RONCAL: A nice deep, sort of, mulberry lipstick. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: That looks good for you, Hodie. HODA KOTB: Yeah. I like that. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Thank you, Mally.
