Delegate Bordallo floor remarks on coral reef issues

Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo says that according to the national oceanic and atmospheric administration, coral reefs support up to 12 percent of global fisheries and 25 percent of all known fish species, the greatest source of biodiversity, but the planets coral reefs are in crisis after 2017 brought a long, unprecedented global coral bleaching event where Guam and the Western Pacific were impacted severely by ocean acidification, warming see temperatures, coastal pollution, invasive species and other stressors that threatened to wipe out the incredibly productive ecosystems.
