Picture shows a panorama of the Heimaey island at sunset, the largest and main island of the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), an archipelago located south of mainland Iceland, in the Suðurland region. It was taken on the hiking trail of the Blátindur cliffs, a mountain 273 m high, located on the western part of the island. The panorama shows the slopes of the mountain, used as pastures, the village of Vestmannaeyjabær and the two volcanoes behind it: the Eldfell on the left side, the one that erupted in 1973, forcing the evacuation of Heimaey, and the Helgafell on the right side, a dormant volcano. On the right side, the Stórhöfði peninsula and the desert islands of Suðurey, Brandur, Hellisey and Álsey, also part of the Westman Archipelago.
