The Roque de los Muchachos ("Rook of boys") is located at the highest point of the island of La Palma at 2,426 meters above sea level and is the quintessential viewpoint of the island. The island of La Palma and specifically Roque de los Muchachos is one of the places in the world with the best sky for astronomical observation and here is the International Astrophysical Observatory of Roque de los Muchachos. From there you can see an impressive view of the Caldera de Taburiente National park. The Roque de los Muchachos closes the Caldera de Taburiente in the north. Caldera de Taburiente National Park is characterized by a huge circus of eight kilometers in diameter with a caldera aspect, where multiple volcanic eruptions, great landslides, the erosive force of water and time have been modeling its geomorphology, turning it into a steep landscape with almost 2,000 m of unevenness. The island of La Palma is an island of the Atlantic Ocean belonging to the archipelago of the Canary Islands (Spain). Since 2002, the entire island is a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco.
