My home away from home, the beautiful town of Malcesine, a comune on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto. Located about 120 kilometres northwest of Venice and about 40 kilometres northwest of Verona and home to Malcesine's Scaliger castle, a reminder of the strategic position of the town and the battles that were fought over who controlled this important fortification. It was rebuilt by the Scaliger family around about 1300. Castle halls contain the Monte Baldo and Garda Natural History Museum, the Galley Room and the former powder magazine. The castle was declared a national monument in 1902.
