Ajiro is a traditional Japanese weaving technique often used for ceilings, walls, and other architectural elements in traditional Japanese rooms, tea houses, fences, etc. Ajiro is made out of a variety of natural, eco-friendly materials, including bamboo, cedar, and other woods. The pattern shown in this image is a typical example of this technique, called Yabane Ajiro. Ajiro is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional, allowing for breathability and giving the covered surface a unique texture. Ajiro is also deeply rooted in Japanese culture, symbolizing elegance and simplicity, or the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.
