Tomatea Point Reserve, near Pakawau, Tasman District, New Zealand - January 19, 2025: A dead whale preparing to be moved away from a stranded pod of Pilot whales who are prepared to be re-floated by Project Jonah (a New Zealand environmental organisation specialising in the protection of sea life), the D.O.C. (Department of Conservation) and Volunteers. Project Jonah are regularly involved in rescuing stranded whales with New Zealand having one of the highest rates of whale strandings and beached whales in the world.
