Image was taken on May 26, 2017 on the frozen waters of Admiralty Inlet where it meets Lancaster Sound in northern Baffin Island, Canada. The hands of an Inuit hunter are shown, he has just shot a ringed seal at it's breathing hole and he is now skinning the carcass. This image depicts the hunter cutting through the subcutaneous fat layer to detach the seal's skin. The seal's internal organs and meat will be dissected, some will be eaten now, some over the next few days as he continues to hunt, and some will be taken back home to his community.
