Blue Mesa is part of the Petrified Forest National Park located in Eastern Arizona, United States. The Blue Mesa was formed between 220 and 225 million years ago at the beginning of the Triassic era when the supercontinent of Pangea had started to break apart. The area resembles a sort of badlands landscape, comprised of mud and sandstones that range from a distinctive blue-gray to green and even purple.
