KEMI, LAPLAND, FINLAND. 02/08/2018 View of the Icebreaker 'Sampo' stopped in the the arctic ice. The 'Sampo' is an Ice-breaker that was built in 1961 by the Finnish Government and operated for thirty years keeping shipping lanes clear of winter pack ice. In 1988, the City of Kemi in Lapland, bought the ship for tourism and this year celebrates its thirtieth year in the Bay of Bothnia showing off its considerable ice-breaking capabilities.
