Catherine Ferguson Studying Metals

(Original Caption) Pictured at work in the General Electric Research Laboratory in Schenectady is Catherine Ferguson, 1940 graduate of Northwestern University, who is now an important cog in defense machinery. A metallurgist, Miss Ferguson is using an optical pyrometer here to study metals at high temperatures. She is helping in the search for new alloys to replace strategic metals such as nickel and aluminum.
