UNITED STATES - MARCH 27: Muhammad Ali's first appearance in Madison Square Garden left little doubt he was born for the big stage., Because his team needed a heavyweight the 18-year-old, 172-pound Cassuis Clay took on 232-pound Gary Jawish in the 1960 Inter-city championships., Jawish, a veteran of several Golden Gloves tournaments had never been knocked down before.
