Plan For The Construction Of A Tsunami Retaining Dike In Indonesia

Motorists crossed the path of the former tsunami brunt on Talise Beach, Tekuk Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, Sunday, February 4, 2019. The local government planned to build a 7.5 kilometer long tsunami barrier embankment on the coast to protect residents living nearby. In the past 90 years, Palu Bay covering 189 square kilometers has been hit by the tsunami three times. The last tsunami occurred on September 28, 2018 which was triggered by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake accompanied by liquefaction.
