Hostage Release

Militants of the Popular Revolutionary Block (BPR), Unified Popular Action Front (FAPU) and Popular Leagues of February 28 (LP-28) lead nervous-looking government workers held hostage for 14 days out of the Ministerio de Trabajo (Ministry of Labor) following declaration of 30-day truce brokered by Archbishop Oscar Romero with the Junta Revolucionaria de Gobierno (JRG), San Salvador, 6 November 1979. The Junta Board agreed to enact significant wage increases for both factory and agricultural workers and to institute human rights policies, in particular to resolve the issues surrounding the disappearance of around 300 people.
