Tensions In Gaza Remain High After Continuous Border Clashes With Israel

The international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation (NGO) has treated over 700 gunshot wounds alone since the protests against Israel started last month. Tensions are high along the Gaza-Israel border following more than a month of weekly mass protests near the fence that has left 40 Palestinian protesters killed and over 1,700 wounded by Israeli army fire. Gaza's Hamas rulers have vowed that the marches will continue until the decade-old Israeli blockade of the territory by is lifted. Anticipation is building to a massive protest on May 15, the day Palestinians mark the "nakba" or catastrophe, to commemorate the anniversary of their mass uprooting during the 1948 war over Israel's creation.
