10 June 2024, Thuringia, Jena: The specimen of a field stone seed from the Haussknecht herbarium is ready for examination on the day of the opening of the Senckenberg Institute for Plant Diversity Jena in the main building of the FSU Jena. In the future, the scientific collections at the institute will be expanded into digital research platforms. The new institute also houses the Haussknecht Herbarium, one of the most important European collections of plants with around 3.5 million specimens.
