Kayapo Indian chief Raoni Metuktire on Tour in Europe

Indian Chief Raoni Metuktire of the Kayapo tribe in the Amazon is on tour in Europe to campaign against the construction of the Belo Monte Dam and the deforestation of the Amazon. The dam will displace 40000 indians and destroy 500 square kilometers of tropical rainforest. Raoni is a symbol of the fight for the preservation of the rainforest, ecosystem and indigenous culture. At 82 years old he is in Europe to collect funds for his village and the demarcation of the Kayapo territory.
