In fact, he has the rank of Shou Zu, "First Guardian for the Chair of the Chief." After morning prayer, he devotes himself to calligraphy. Shi Yin Sun explains that the art of calligraphy requires a clearness of mind linked to an unfailing concentration, qualities which he acquires through the practice of Zen.
