Hiroshima, Nagasaki : 60 Years On

Due to thickened keloids on his back, Sumiteru Taniguchi still suffers from excruciating pains when he goes to bed. As a young man of 16, he was cycling 1.8 kms from the epicenter when the blast hit him from behind, leaving his back burned while skin peeled from his shoulder, hanging like a rag. He could neither sit nor turn over and was forced to lie on his stomach for 21 months. "I was not hovering between life and death, but was a wanderer in hell."
