Dow Jones & Company publishes The Wall Street Journal, the financial daily whose circulation of 1. 7 million puts it in competition with Gannett's USA TODAY (2. 3 million circulation) as the most widely read US newspaper. Dow Jones also publishes The Wall Street Journal Europe, The Wall Street Journal Asia, financial magazines (Barron's and SmartMoney, jointly owned with Hearst), and community newspapers through its Ottaway Newspapers group. The Bancroft family (heirs of early owner Clarence Barron) controls about 60% of the voting power of the company. Dow Jones & Company, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DJ, publishes the world's most vital business and financial news and information.
