On January 20, 1943, this building, a hideout of the Gestapo during the Second World War, suffered avenging fire from the four 20 mm cannons of the Hawker Typhoon of Captain Baron Jean Michel P.M.G. of Selys Longchamps DFC, shattering the windows on each floor, occupied by the officers' offices which overlooked the avenue Louise.
