Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza Holds Campaign Rally

Nkurunziza has been President of Burundi since 2005 and is with the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD) party. The head of Burundi's influential rights group Aprodeh says at least 70 people, mostly civilians, have been killed and hundreds of others wounded following weeks of political unrest in the small country in the African Great Lakes region of East Africa. The violence started after Nkurunziza announced his controversial bid for a third consecutive five-year term in office.
