Football Players With Women in Uniforms

(Original Caption) Back in the days before the war, a beautiful co-ed and a football player always made a good picture. Now things are a bit different as the above photo indicates, at the U.S. Navy pre-flight school at Chapel Hill, NC. The football layers are future fliers in Uncle Sam's Navy, and the beautiful coeds have turned into beautiful WAVES. Left to right: Warren Anderson, of Brooklyn, NY, who was Captain-elect at Colgate this year; Ensign Maxine Neitz, USNR, of Seattle, Washington; Otto Graham, Waukegan, Illinois, who was all-American football and basketball star at Northwestern last year; Ensign Betty Crawford, USNR, of Salina, Kansas; Melbourne Sheehan, of St. Louis, Missouri and Buell St. John, of Aliceville, Alabama. The four football players are expected to be starters on the cloudbuster eleven this fall.
