FRANCE - AUGUST 01: Aqueduct of Pont du Gard, a world heritage admitted by UNESCO In France On August 01, 2008-2000 years old, the Pont du Gard is an exceptional testimony to the unique world of Roman engineering. Remarkably preserved, it represents the most prestigious of the aqueduct built to carry water from Uzes source to Nimes of about fifty kilometers. Realized in years of 50, after Jesus Christ, the Pont du Gard is a Roman aqueduct bridge has three levels of arches spanning the river Gardon. It is constructed with blocks of local stone in large dimensions and assembled without mortar. A height of 49 meters, makes it the highest bridge in the Roman world, and a length of 275 meters, it lies on the town of Vers-Pont du Gard in the department of Gard.
