Norman Parish Works On The Wall Of Respect

American artist Norman Parish (1937 - 2013) sits on scaffolding as he works on a section of the Wall of Respect (at the intersection of 43rd Street and Langley Avenue) in the South Side neighborhood, Chicago, Illinois, August 1967. The large mural (conceived by the Organization of Black American Culture, or OBAC) depicted images of 'Black Heroes' as positive role models for identity, community formation, and revolutionary action, and was a public example of the Black Arts Movement.
