John Powers became a well known songwriter and performer for a number of years on the internet music site “mp3.com”.
He was the only artists to have TOP TEN songs in POP, COUNTRY, LOVE SONGS all at the same time with 3 different songs.
As a result of that success he was featured on every promo CD that mp3.com produced while that company was still active. Through his association with mp3.com he met and wrote with “Mickey Dean” a fellow artist on the site and together they both wrote songs for two of the “Mickey Dean and His Talking Guitar” albums.
Previous to that John was a solo artist produced by Jim Klein the Emmy award winning producer/musician for the American Television show “All My Children".
John’s newest music is a seriously radical departure from anything he has ever done before and from what you can see “he’s done alot”. Pop, Folk, Country and Blues are now all melded into one very personal statement from an artist that wants to seriously connect with his new audience in his own intimate way. His songs are deeply personal and are little gems that require you to sit back and listen and feel. Taking you back to a time when the music mattered and the artist was giving you a part of himself in every song.
His style is clearly acoustic and his roots show the reaching back to artists like Nick Drake, Jon Martyn, Cat Stevens for his personal inspiration and John Wood and Joe Boyd for production direction.
