Artist/Composer/Performer Chris Morris was born and raised in Oceanside, California. That Southern Californian upbringing is heard in his unique brand of smooth soaring melodies, lush arrangements and energetic delivery. His music is simultaneously retro and fresh. While not shying away from the influence of his idols, each song is 100% Chris.
Chris began piano lessons at just 5 years old. He then picked up the trombone at 10 and went on to get involved in just about every music class imaginable throughout the remaining years of his schooling. All the while, learning how to work his way around a studio and honing his craft as a songwriter. Now a multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, performer...Chris is a confident musical jack of all trades.
In January 2010, he launched his own website, "theartofchrismorris.com" and celebrated it with the release of the single "ONE (f/A. Diction & D-Voo). His music has found its way to enough people to garner him a loyal fanbase who are anxiously awaiting his forthcoming full length album, due out in the Summer of 2010. He performs frequently throughout Southern California to the point that audiences sing along to every word and even call him out if a line is switched here and there. His presence on social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace have allowed his music to spread worldwide.
Chris is a self proclaimed chameleon as he not easily pigeonholed in to one genre. You may see him dubbing out as the lone clean cut on a stage full of dreddies with San Diego's finest Reggae band ROOTS COVENANT, performing breakbeat influenced funk with FUNKTUATION, producing acts such as the unique Hip-Hop/Rock duo MO BETTA as well as numerous other amazing talents in the field of Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, etc. He's co-written and performed on songs for a variety of up and coming artists including CHARLIE, J.P., JERZY SWIFT, 5TH and many more!
2010 is already off the an amazing start. He has already performed at such venues as the San Diego Sports Arena, the Long Beach Arena and the world famous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip. Opportunities have presented themselves for songs from his forthcoming album to be featured on TV and Film. More and more artists have also been seeking production of his so you can count on hearing more than your fair share of Chris Morris productions throughout the year.
With influences ranging from Stevie Wonder to Prince to the Beatles to David Foster to Outkast to David Bowie to Chicago to Bob Marley, how can he go wrong?
