People Line Up For Free Laba Congee During Laba Festival

SHANGHAI, CHINA - JANUARY 27: (CHINA OUT) Yufo Temple offers free Laba congee during Laba Festival on January 27, 2015 in Shanghai, China. Shanghai's Yufo Temple offerred about 3000 bowls of free Laba congee to citizens lining up and about 2000 bowls to Shanghai's ten community centers during Chinese Laba Festival. It was said that Shanghai Yufo Temple offerred free Laba congee every year on Laba Festival day. The traditional Laba Festival falls on the 8th day of the 12th lunar month. It's customarily on this day to eat Laba porridge. Recipes of the traditional Laba congee varies, though generally includes glutinous rice, dried lotus seeds, longan, gingko, dried red dates, chestnuts, peanuts, walnuts, raisins and melon seeds.
