Drought And Increased Water Rates Pushes San Francisco Golf Course To Brink Of Bankruptcy

As the severe drought in California continues to worsen, the 52 year-old Gleneagles Golf Course is on the brink of closing after the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission imposed a nearly 50 percent water rate increase for golf courses in the city. Gleneagles Golf Course general partner Tom Hsieh has signifcantly reduced watering at the course and gave the San Francisco Rec and Park his 30-day notice due to mounting bills from the increased water rate.
