Loading Coal Onto HMS Waterwitch

Royal Navy ship HMS Waterwitch anchored of Labuan Asian coast as a group of chinese convicts load sacks of coal. HMS Waterwitch Built in 1878 as a private vessel called The White Lady, she was given as a gift to Lillie Langtry, mistress to the Prince of Wales. In 1893 she was purchased by the Admiralty, renamed Waterwitch' and given the rating of sloop survey vessel. She sank in 1912 after a collision in Singapore. Picture taken Labuan coast 1901.
