OXON HILL, MD - FEBRUARY 6: Robert Barksdale washes his face while getting ready to leave his mother's apartment as early as 5:30 am in Oxon Hill, MD, February 6, 2015. Barksdale spent three months at a half-way house before moving in with his mother, sister and the daughter of his sister at a small two-bedroom apartment where he sleeps on the sofa in the living room. Eventually he hopes to find his own place. Barksdale is a 24 year old man who was convicted as an adult for a robbery committed when he was 16 and served 8 years in prison. He's been out of jail for a little over six months and is determined to make his life right. We do his early morning bus commute with him to a job with PRoject Empowerment, where he does carpentry work for the DC government.
