Jiraiya the Magician by Yoshitoshi

In this whimsical design from Yoshitoshi's early career, a bandit rides on a toad which he has created from a rock through a magical spell. The outlaw, called Jiraiya, used his powers for evil purposes. His many adventures were the subject of a forty-three volume popular novel published in the 1840s.
