Locals Gather For Ngusaba Gumang Celebrations

KARANGASEM, BALI, INDONESIA - OCTOBER 07: A Balinese man in a state of trance, stabs his chest infront of a palanquin, the symbol of God during Ngusaba Gumang Ritual at BugBug Village on October 7, 2014 in Karangasem, Bali, Indonesia. Ngusaba Gumang ritual is held every 2 years at the top of the Gumang Hill. This is the largest ritual in Karangasem district and is attended by close to 10,000 people from four villages, Bugbug Village, Jasri Village, Bebandem Village and Ngis Village. The ritual is to celebrate the ancestors of the community where the Gods from those four different villages meet the other God which lives on Gumang Hill and to show the gratitude to the God by offering a roasted pig.
