The Virgin Megastore chain, which currently employs 1000 workers in France, is planning to file for bankruptcy and is convening an extraordinary board meeting to this effect on January 7. Originally started by Richard Branson, the British billionaire and chairman of the Virgin Group, the Virgin Megastores were bought by the French Lagardere group in 2001.
