Protests Continue As President Morsi Declares A State Of Emergency

CAIRO, EGYPT - JANUARY 31: An Egyptian man inspects damage to the outer walls of a luxury hotel vandalized during earlier clashes between riot police and protesters near Tahrir Square on January 31, 2013 in Cairo, Egypt. Several luxury hotels on the banks of the Nile River in central Cairo were forced to close after being surrounded by violent demonstrations and in one case, being broken into. Protests continued across Egypt nearly one week after the second anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution that overthrew former President Hosni Mubarak on January 25, 2011. Further protests are expected over the coming weekend to commemorate the first anniversary of the Port Said football massacre, when over 70 fans of the Cairo-based Al Ahly football club were killed in a violent post-match brawl between fans of the opposing teams inside the Port Said football stadium after a match between the Al Ahly and Al Masry football teams.
